Sustainability

Sustainability is the ability to exist constantly. In the 21st century, it refers generally to the capacity for the biosphere and human civilization to co-exist.

Sustainability is the study of how natural system function, remain diverse and produce everything it needs for the ecology to remain in balance. There are countless examples throughout human history where a civilization has damaged its own environment and seriously affected its own survival chances.

Despite the increased popularity of use of the term ‘Sustainability’ the possibility that human societies will achieve environmental sustainability has been and continues to be questioned in light of environmental degradation, climate change, over consumption, population growth and societies pursuit of unlimited economic growth in the closed system.

Sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We all need to maintain an equilibrium where available resources must not be depleted faster than resources are naturally generated.

There are four dimensions to sustainable development – society, environment, culture and economy – which are intertwined, not separate. Sustainability is a paradigm for thinking about the future in which environmental, social, cultural and economic considerations are balanced in the pursuit of an improved quality of life. For example, a prosperous society relies on a healthy environment to provide food and resources, safe drinking water and clean air for its citizens.

Vijayash Foundation wholeheartedly supports the cause of sustainability and requests all to be fully awake towards it. Vijayash Foundation is spreading awareness by conducting various workshops, conferences on Sustainability & Spirituality.
